The old school of thought about article marketing: Distribute your articles everywhere you can.

The new approach: Pick two or three quality sites.

Why the difference? There are some good reasons for the divergent perspectives.

Those who advocate mass submission are generally more interested in backlink generation than in direct traffic production. They realize that Google’s treatment of duplicate content will render most every submission “invisible” to searchers. They also know that Google will still take note of the backlinks.

Those who advocate limited distribution argue that you can muster the same traffic effect from a single submission to the right directory and that Google doesn’t seem to be treating inbound links from articles with the same gusto it once had.

So, which way should you break on this issue? If you have mass submitter, software, I’d continue to bombard the net with your articles. There’s no such thing as a bad link, after all. If you don’t have a submitter and you’re more interested in driving traffic to a landing page than engaging in SEO, it makes sense to limit your submissions to the sites that matter.

Once upon a time, some crooner topped the charts with a little ditty called “Little Things Mean a Lot”.

The message is true. The tiny CAN be consequential. Free traffic generation is a great case in point.

Most of us have at least some idea of the bigger ways to generate free traffic. Article marketing, for instance seems to be on the tip of everyone’s tongues at all times.

But there are little ways. Tiny, simple ways. And these techniques can be almost invisible. And their impact can seem trivial. Until we start adding them altogether. All of those little things produce a sum of visitors that can be very impressive.

What are these little things? Things like forum profiles, blog commenting, and even using photos the right way to maximize their SEO value. Those are just three of many examples.

If you want more traffic, you might want to consider mastering a hand of the little things. They can make a very large difference.

Article marketing can conceivably drive traffic in one of two ways.

It can get you more visitors by improving your backlink totals which should, in turn, improve your search engine performance.

Article marketing can also get you a direct supply of visitors. People who find your article via search or some other method and who then opt to check out your site after they’ve ready your content.

That decision–to click on to your page or to click away–takes place at the resource box.

It’s not just a place to stick your links.. It’s where you close the deal, creating a bridge from your syndicated content to your site.

Think about it. Everything hinges on that resource box.

Are you giving it enough attention?

Or could it be better?

If you have room for improvement, make it. You’re wasting the potential power of your articles by saddling them with a lousy resource box.

Put together a box that draws people to click on that link. When you start seeing your click through rate (and your profits) soar, you’ll be glad you put for the effort.

Many companies or website owners often find that outside of their website there is a lot of valuable information they could be offering people.

Unfortunately, reaching a mass audience can be rather tricky if you don’t know how to go about it. Writing articles and submitting them to various article sites and portals can be the answer you’ve been looking for.

Once you’ve written an article (or hired a professional writer to do it for you), submit the article to various free article sites. Your articles should be relevant to your website and keyword rich in order for it to rank well in search results. One of the benefits of article submitting is that after the article has been submitted, there is little else to do. There is no additional maintenance needed.

Make sure that your articles contain links back to your main website. This way, readers and people looking for more information can click through to your site. Your site can gain a great deal of exposure by submitting your articles to multiple sites. This will result in authentic traffic from those who read your articles and click through to your main site for more information.

Drive free traffic to your website with a Squidoo lens. The lens is similar to a hubpage, but it is separated into sections. You have options for using affiliate links and adding your own website URL. This means that you will be creating a backlink to your website and therefore increasing traffic. The lens can be in the same niche as your website and talk more freely about the niche.

For instance, if you are selling fishing bait, you can talk about fishing or how to fish. You can make as many lens as you want with a link back to your website attached to each one. Your resources are huge when you use a Squidoo lens. How to articles and lost articles make great lens and people are going to want to see more about what you have to say.

Drive free traffic to your website with a lens and see the difference in a few days or weeks. Remember to do some social networking with Twitter to showcase your Squidoo lens and bring readers to your website this way. You can display a short sentence and a website link in less than 140 characters with Twitter or even Facebook.

Hubpages can be used by website owners such as yourself to drive free traffic to your website. Hubs are informational articles that can be linked back to your website. Another aspect of a hub is that while you are driving traffic to your website, you can also add your own Amazon and eBay affiliate links and Google AdSense. Even if someone reads your hub and decides, it is not for them, maybe you can earn a little money from affiliate marketing.

For instance, if you are selling a work at home product that you think can help everyone. You might write an article about working from home. You can then add your website URL to link back. What you have done is intrigued the readers curiosity. They are going to click your link just to see what it is you have to offer. Become an authority on your niche and make many hubs that link back to your website. Hubs are free to create and stay online forever.

Every good backlink to your website helps you get higher up on the search engines and more people will see your website before others. Use a catchy title and watch the traffic flow.

Article marketing is a big trend in internet marketing currently. Research has shown that the majority of consumers looking for products or services online are first looking for information on their planned purchases. Therefore it makes sense for those offering their products online to also provide that information–together in one location–so that consumers can go from reading to purchasing in one convenient seamless step.

One way to get this information to consumers is through the use of free article directories. Submitting articles relevant to the product or service you are offering is simple and quite effective. If you’re selling hardwood flooring, for instance, you can submit a short article about different types of hardwood. At the end of the article, simply insert links to your site with an invitation to the reader to visit.

These articles often turn up at the top of search engine rankings because of their keyword density, giving you added exposure. While you may need to pay a professional writer to churn out a few articles for you–depending on your writing ability–there is no fee to submit your articles to these directories. Consider writing one or two, and see how much traffic you can gain through the free incoming links.
